Retro Wooden Block Autumn Shelf Decor

October arrived and the shelf didn't notice. Same books, same order, same silence.

The trouble with seasonal decorating is it's all-or-nothing — either the whole room gets dressed up, which is a Saturday afternoon nobody has, or nothing changes at all and autumn happens somewhere else in the house. The shelf, specifically, tends to lose that argument every year.

Black cats, pumpkins, skulls, witches, owls, zombies, vampires — each one its own small carved block, set down rather than installed, no tools and no commitment beyond finding the flat surface. Line them up on the mantel, scatter them across the windowsill, group them by how much they unsettle the cat.

Autumn found the shelf this time.
